Ykaie needs a costume for Linggo ng Wika/Family Day in school.
And where do you buy Filipiniana costume? Divisoria, of course!
So last Sunday, we went to Tutuban Mall in Divisoria to buy Ykaie’s Filipiniana Costume for this month’s Linggo ng Wika/Family Day in school.
Baro’t Saya is a traditional Filipino blouse and skirt. The blouse is made up of sheer material and is embroidered with intricate design. The skirt is usually, plaid or brightly colored worn with a “tapis” or a wrap-around overskirt. An alampay is worn over the blouse to cover the bosom.
I wanted a Baro’t Saya and bakya but the piece that we liked was too big for her. We tried fitting another one but we didn’t like the color. A small Baro’t Saya costs P300- P450.
So I thought about buying her a Terno instead.
Terno is also a traditional Filipino dress. It is a one piece sort of gown with butterfly sleeves worn on formal occasions.
But the Terno’s for sale are, I think, overly designed for ykaie..
So we settled for this..a cute cross-over between the Baro’t Saya and the Terno. After this, we headed to Tabora for some native slippers.
