So apparently, there’s a new season of YOU on Netflix—Season 5 na siya, mga mars! I remember watching this show back when it first came out, and I was totally hooked until Season 3. But here’s the thing… I could vaguely remember what happened in Season 2 and 3. Like, I remember Love Quinn being wild, but the details? Lutang. 😂
So I decided to start all over again. As in, back to Season 1. And let me tell you—this rewatch? TOTALLY worth it.
Meet Joe Goldberg: The Anti-Hero You Weirdly Root For
Penn Badgley is so good in this role. Joe Goldberg is charming, articulate, and—let’s be real—nakakatakot. He’s the type of guy na kung hindi mo alam ang totoong pagkatao, you’d think he’s a total gentleman. But the moment you hear that inner monologue? Yikes. Parang stalker-philosopher hybrid. He justifies everything he does in the name of love, even if it involves, you know… murder.
And yet, here we are… rooting for him. 😬
Season 1: The Obsession Begins
Season 1 introduces us to Joe and his obsession with Guinevere Beck. The way he narrates everything makes it so easy to get inside his head. It’s disturbing, but also addicting. YOU really sets the tone here—dark, creepy, romantic in the most twisted way. Iba talaga. Also, bakit parang invisible si Joe kapag naka-cap? Hindi siya napapansin kahit saan siya mag-stalk. LOL.
Season 2: New City, New Victim (Or So We Thought)
Joe moves to LA to escape his past and meets Love Quinn. Now, I remembered her being intense, pero grabe pala talaga siya. The plot twists in this season were wild—like, “Wait, siya pala yun?!” kind of wild. Love turns out to be just as unhinged as Joe, and that makes things very interesting.
This season starts to shift the theme from “guy stalks girl” to “two psychos try to make love work.” And for a second, you almost believe they could be soulmates… if not for all the you know, killing people part.
Season 3: Domestic Chaos
Season 3 brings us to the suburbs, with Joe and Love playing house in a white-picket-fence kinda neighborhood. May baby na sila. They’re trying to be normal. But of course, they’re not. Joe’s still Joe—lusting after someone new and mentally narrating his every move. Love is now full-on unpredictable. Their relationship? It’s a ticking time bomb.
Honestly, this season felt like Desperate Housewives on steroids. 😂 Ang daming drama, daming plot twists, daming patayan. You just know things won’t end well.
Season 4: London, Secrets, and a New Identity
Joe goes to London and tries to leave his past behind (again) by becoming Professor Jonathan Moore. This season shifts to more of a whodunit thriller vibe. For once, Joe isn’t the stalker—we’re dealing with someone stalking him. Plot twist! The mystery was fun, and it was a refreshing take on the usual YOU formula.
And can I just say—ibang level ang aesthetic ng London episodes. Parang very Sherlock-meets-Gossip Girl.
Season 5: Joe is Back… Again
Now I’m on Season 5 (no spoilers, promise!) and it still has that same YOU flavor. Joe’s trying to be a better man (or so he says), but syempre, hindi ganun kadali. The tension is high, the pacing is solid, and every episode still ends with me going, “Okay, last na talaga ‘to…” (tapos biglang next episode plays 😅).
Why It’s Still Worth Watching
After five seasons, you’d think the story would feel tired—but surprisingly, it still works. Joe’s character continues to evolve (or unravel?), and the writers somehow find new ways to keep us guessing. The themes around identity, obsession, morality, and the illusion of control are still super relevant.
Plus, it’s just so bingeable. As in isang upuan, limang episodes agad. 😂
If you’re into psychological thrillers with a bit of romance, mystery, and a deeply flawed main character you can’t help but watch, YOU is worth the (re)watch.
Rewatching YOU reminded me why I fell into the Joe Goldberg spiral in the first place. It’s dark, twisted, and honestly nakakabitin in the best way. If you haven’t started the latest season yet—or if you’re like me and need a refresher—go ahead and dive back in.
Just… maybe don’t watch it alone at night. 😉
