Books That Got Me Through Stressful Mom Days

Because minsan, kailangan din ni mommy ng pahinga… kahit sa loob ng libro lang.

Let’s be honest — being a mom is the most fulfilling job in the world… pero grabe rin ang pagod, di ba? 😅 Between laundry, dishes, deadlines, tantrums, and trying to remember if you’ve eaten lunch (at 4pm), minsan gusto mo na lang umupo at manahimik.

That’s where books come in.
Hindi man ako makalayo physically, books have always been my little escape — a soft corner of peace when everything feels too much.

So today, gusto kong i-share sa inyo ang mga books that got me through stressful mom days. These are the ones that felt like warm hugs, wise ate advice, or just made me laugh and breathe a little easier.

1. “Big Magic” by Elizabeth Gilbert

Creative inspiration in a book.

Whenever I feel like I’m running on empty, Big Magic reminds me to keep creating, keep writing, and to trust my own rhythm. Perfect for moms juggling passion and responsibility.

2. “The Lazy Genius Way” by Kendra Adachi

Be a genius about the things that matter. Be lazy about the things that don’t.

This book made me feel seen. Minsan, it’s not about doing it all — it’s about doing what actually works for your life. And yes, okay lang if that means spaghetti ulit sa dinner. 😉

3. “Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life” by Hector Garcia & Francesc Miralles

Simple, calming, and life-affirming.

On days when I question everything (you know those days!), this book helps me slow down and remember that purpose is found in the little things.

4. “Atomic Habits” by James Clear

Small steps, big changes.

Perfect for moms trying to improve their routine without feeling overwhelmed. This book gave me hope that tiny changes—like waking up 10 minutes earlier—can truly build momentum.

5. “The Little Prince” by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

For the heart. Always for the heart.

This one never fails to make me cry in a good way. It reminds me to see the world through my daughter’s eyes — with wonder, patience, and lots of love.

Bonus: Rom-Coms + Cozy Fiction

Sometimes I just need a light escape—no lessons, just kilig or good vibes. Some feel-good reads I always come back to:

  • To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han
  • Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman
  • The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary

Mama, You Deserve a Breather

Reading may feel like a luxury, pero kahit 10 minutes before bed with a good book can feel like a mini-vacation.

So kung pagod ka, stressed ka, or gusto mo lang tumawa o umiyak nang walang dahilan—pick up a book. Let the words hold you for a bit. You deserve that break.

Have a favorite read? I’d love to hear yours too, momshie! Share it in the comments below or DM me sa Facebook. Let’s build our own cozy reading corner, one page at a time.
