Cost of Living in the Philippines 2025: How Much You Really Need as a Family

cost of living Philippines

Every time I sit down with my notebook to do our monthly budget, I’m reminded of how much prices have changed these past few years. And as a mom, I know budgeting isn’t just about numbers — it’s about making sure your kids are fed, happy, safe, and secure while still giving yourself room to breathe. If you’re a Filipino family trying to plan this year, here’s the honest breakdown of the cost of living in the Philippines in 2025 and how we moms make it work without losing our minds.

Groceries (₱8,000–₱15,000/month)

Groceries are where I feel the inflation the most. One grocery cart that used to be ₱3,000 is suddenly ₱4,000+. Essentials like chicken, eggs, cooking oil, and vegetables have all gone up. For a family who cooks at home (hello, that’s us!), expect around ₱10,000–₱15,000 depending on what you buy and how often you eat out.

Utilities (₱3,000–₱6,000/month)

Electricity takes the crown, especially during hot months. Our bill moves between ₱2,000 to ₱4,500 depending on aircon use. Water averages ₱300–₱600 unless you water plants or love long showers, hehe.

Internet + Mobile (₱1,000–₱2,000/month)

Non-negotiable, especially for work-from-home moms and kids doing online projects. Fiber plans average ₱1,200 to ₱1,800.

School Expenses + Baon (₱3,000–₱10,000/month)

With projects, assignments, and baon, school creates its own mini-budget. Twinkle’s baon and school needs change month by month, especially when clubs or activities require materials (and you know kids — there’s always something!).

Transportation (₱2,000–₱8,000/month)

Whether you commute or drive, fuel and fares really add up.

Rent or Mortgage (₱7,000–₱20,000/month)

This depends heavily on location. Cities are pricier; provinces more affordable.

Total Estimated Cost of Living for a Filipino Family in 2025:

₱25,000–₱60,000 monthly (depending on lifestyle, location, and family size).
Every family is different, but one thing is the same for all moms: we want comfort, stability, and peace of mind. And with smart budgeting, meal planning, and side hustles (hello, blogging and online work!), it’s possible.
