I’ve always been fascinated with those viral “What I Spend in a Week” videos.
So I thought — why not make a mom-version?
Because let’s be honest: moms have the most unpredictable budgets.
Here’s a real (and slightly funny) look at what I spent this week, based on actual receipts, mom emergencies, and “ay, sale pala!” moments.
Day 1 – Grocery Day (₱2,350)
Grocery is my love language.
Bought:
- Rice
- Chicken
- Snacks for Twinkle and Ykaie
- Milk
- Veggies
- Coffee (non-negotiable 😂)
Mommy moment:
Twinkle convinced me to get marshmallows “for school project.”
I later found out it’s for snacking.
Okay, fine. Mommy approved.
Day 2 – School Expenses (₱480)
Glue sticks. Manila paper. A printing fee.
Ala-ala ng pagkabata natin… except mas mahal ngayon.
Day 3 – Grab + Pasabay (₱315)
Umulan. Wala nang energy magluto.
Ordered lugaw and tokwa’t baboy.
Worth it.
Day 4 – Pet Care (₱1,700)
Our beagles needed their tick/flea meds.
NexGard again — they hate the taste, so I had to hide it inside camote cue.
Mom hack of the year.
Day 5 – Mini Grocery Refill (₱675)
Wipes. Eggs. Bread.
Typical mom-day-out cart.
Day 6 – Kuryente + Water (₱19,000)
This is the part where you just stare at the bill and whisper, “Thank You, Lord.”
Day 7 – Family Treat Day (₱1,100)
Halo-halo + fries + chicken for Twinkle.
Our little tradition when everyone had a long week.
Weekly Total:
₱25,620 — not bad for a week with pets, school errands, electricity and Maynilad bills, and rainy-day cravings.
Some weeks are lower, some are much higher (lalo pag may birthday, school events, or emergencies)
Budgeting isn’t about depriving yourself — it’s about being in control.
And honestly, seeing my numbers written down helps me stay mindful and grateful.
