I don’t think anything really prepares you for this stage of motherhood.
One minute, you’re choosing your child’s school supplies, fixing her hair before class, reminding her not to forget her baon… and then suddenly, you’re helping her choose a ball gown for her graduation ball.
That’s exactly how it felt with Ykaie.
Her graduation ball was held last March 25 at Winford Hotel, and the theme was Enchanted Garden. And honestly, everything about that night felt exactly like that—soft, dreamy, and a little bit magical. But for me, it wasn’t just the venue or the theme. It was seeing my daughter step into this new version of herself—more grown, more confident, and quietly glowing in a way that made me stop and just take her in.
Of course, before that magical night came the very real process of finding the perfect gown. And moms, alam niyo ‘to — ang daming sinukat. We went through 3 different styles, different colors, different designs. Some were pretty, some were okay, and some we both immediately said “nope” 😅 We went to Mystical Wardrobes for this, by the way,
Then she tried on Moonbeam.
And that was it.
Out of all the gowns she wore, that was the one we both loved the most. The moment she stepped out wearing it, I just paused. Sabi ko sa kanya, “Para kang character sa Lord of the Rings.” And she really did. The gown had this soft, ethereal feel — parang elf, parang fairy, something straight out of an enchanted world. It wasn’t loud or overly dramatic, but it had this quiet elegance that made her stand out even more. It felt like it matched her personality perfectly.
We rented the Moonbeam gown for ₱8,500, added a petticoat for ₱650 to give it that full, dreamy shape, and completed the look with a tiara for ₱390. All in all, around ₱9,540 for the entire look. And honestly, for a once-in-a-lifetime kind of night like this, it felt worth it — not just for how beautiful she looked, but for how confident and happy she felt wearing it.

The moment that really got me, though, was while she was getting ready. Hair done, makeup on, gown almost complete. I just stood there and looked at her. And in that quiet moment, it hit me. Parang kailan lang, ako pa yung nagbibihis sa kanya. Ako pa yung nag-aayos ng buhok niya. And now here she is, getting ready for her graduation ball.
Hindi na siya baby.
When we arrived at the venue, everything felt like it came straight out of the theme. Soft lighting, floral details, that dreamy setup — it really did feel like an enchanted garden. But what stood out to me even more was seeing all of them together. All dressed up, laughing, taking photos, enjoying the night. These kids who once just ran around in school uniforms… now celebrating a milestone that marks the beginning of something new.
Honestly, hinatid ko lang sya ha but as a mom, you don’t just go to events like this — you observe. You take everything in. I watched Ykaie as she talked with her friends, laughed freely, and just enjoyed the moment. And I realized something quietly in my heart.
She’s starting to build her own world now.
Her own memories.
Her own life.
And that’s the part no one really prepares you for.
Because while these moments are beautiful, they’re also a little bittersweet. You begin to understand that your role is slowly changing. You’re still their mom — always — but you’re learning to let go, little by little.

If you’re a mom reading this and your child is still young, let me just say this…
It goes by so fast.
One day you’re packing snacks.
The next, you’re adjusting a ball gown.
And somewhere in between, they grow up right in front of you.
That night, my daughter looked like she stepped out of a storybook — like a character from a fantasy world, wearing her Moonbeam gown, with her little tiara, walking into a moment she’ll probably remember forever.
But what stayed with me wasn’t just how she looked.
It was that quiet realization in my heart: Ang laki na ng anak ko.
And I am just so, so proud of her.
