One of Those School Moments You Don’t Want to Miss
This was last year during Twinkle’s Book Week, one of those school events that seem simple at first… but end up becoming something you quietly treasure.
You know the kind.
The ones where kids get to dress up as their favorite book characters, walk around proudly, and just be fully in that little world of imagination.
And as parents, we show up — not just to watch, but to witness it.

Choosing Her Book Character
When they announced that the kids needed to come in costume as a book character, of course, there was that usual excitement.
And a little bit of decision-making too 😅
Out of all the characters she could have chosen, Twinkle decided to come as Princess Aurora, also known as Sleeping Beauty. And honestly, it fit her so well.
There’s something about little girls choosing princess characters — not just because they’re pretty, but because they carry that soft, magical, dreamy energy that kids naturally love.
And when she said she wanted to be Sleeping Beauty, I could already imagine how she would look.
Seeing Her All Dressed Up
On the day of the event, when she was already in her costume, there was that moment where you just stop and look.
Because suddenly, she’s not just your child getting ready for school.
She’s in character. All dressed up, excited, and fully embracing the role she chose. And you can see it in her eyes — the joy, the confidence, the excitement of being part of something fun and special.
Those are the moments you don’t rush. You just take them in.
Watching the Parade With DaddyDoodledoo
Of course, we didn’t want to miss it. Daddydoodledoo and I came to watch the parade, and I’m so glad we did.
There’s something different about seeing your child in a school parade. It’s not just about the costumes. It’s about seeing them in their own little world — with their classmates, their teachers, their own space outside of home.
We stood there, watching as the kids walked by one by one, each in their own character, each proudly showing who they chose to be.
And when Twinkle passed by? Of course, our eyes were locked on her.
That Proud Parent Feeling
You know that feeling. When you’re in a crowd, but somehow, you only see your child.
You smile a little wider. You pay a little more attention. You feel your heart quietly swell.
It’s not even about how grand the event is. It’s about seeing your child happy. Confident. Enjoying the moment.
Why Book Week Moments Matter
At first glance, Book Week feels like a simple school activity. Costumes. Parade. Photos. But when you think about it, it’s more than that.
It encourages kids to:
- love stories
- explore characters
- express themselves
- build confidence
And for us parents, it becomes a reminder of how important these small experiences are in their growth.
A Simple Day, A Lasting Memory
Looking back, nothing about that day was extravagant. No big production. No grand setup.
Just kids in costumes, walking in a parade. But somehow, it became one of those memories that stays. Because it wasn’t about how big the event was. It was about how it made her feel.
And how it made us feel watching her.
If your child has a school event coming up — Book Week, costume day, or anything like it — try not to skip it.
I know life gets busy. But these are the moments that pass quietly and quickly. One day they’re excited to dress up as princesses and storybook characters…
And before you know it, they’ve outgrown that stage. So show up. Watch. Take it all in.
Because sometimes, the simplest school days turn into the memories you hold on to the most.
