Meal Planning Hacks Every Busy Mom Needs

Momsh, alam mo yung feeling na 5 PM na, tapos wala ka pang idea kung ano ang lulutuin for dinner? 😅 Same. It’s like the daily “What’s for dinner?” question is the ultimate mom battle. But don’t worry — I’ve learned a few meal planning hacks that save time, money, and sanity (yes, may ganern!).

Here are some tried-and-tested tips you can start doing right away:

  1. Plan Once, Shop Once
Instead of rushing to the grocery 3x a week, plan meals for 5–7 days in one go. Make a list of ulam you’ll cook (like adobo, sinigang, or grilled liempo), then shop based on that. Bonus: less impulse buys!
  2. Theme Nights = Less Stress
Assign a theme to each day para hindi ka mauubusan ng ideas:
  • Monday: Pasta Night
  • Tuesday: Chicken Ulam
  • Wednesday: Soup/One-Pot Dish
  • Thursday: Leftover Makeover
  • Friday: Takeout Treat
  1. Cook Once, Eat Twice
If you’re already cooking adobo, make extra. Tomorrow’s ulam? Adobo flakes for breakfast or adobo pasta for lunch.
  2. Freeze It, Momsh!
Pre-chop veggies, marinate meats ahead, or store cooked meals in the freezer. On lazy days, just reheat and serve.
  3. Get the Family Involved
Ask your kids to pick one dish for the week. Kapag sila may choice, mas excited sila kumain (less picky eating drama!).

Meal planning doesn’t have to be perfect. What matters is that it helps you save time, reduce food waste, and keep everyone happy (lalo na si Daddy at ang mga bagets!).
