The Real Cost of Raising a Child in the Philippines (2025 Update)

When I became a mom, I thought love and patience would be the hardest parts of parenting. But as the years went by, I realized — it’s the budgeting! 😅

From baby bottles to college dreams, the cost of raising a child in the Philippines can be a real challenge for every parent. I still remember when Daddydoodledoo and I brought Twinkle (and even Ykaie) home from the hospital — I had a small notebook where I tracked every expense: diapers, milk, vaccines, baby wipes. It felt endless!

But that’s the reality of parenthood. Kids grow, needs grow, and so does the budget. Let’s take a closer look at what it really costs to raise a child today — and how we can manage it without losing our minds (or our wallets).

Baby Years (0–2 years)

These are the gastos years. Diapers, milk, doctor visits, and baby gear can cost anywhere from ₱8,000–₱15,000 per month.
If you use imported milk or disposable diapers exclusively, that amount can double.

💡 Mommy Tip: Buy baby wipes and diapers in bulk from warehouse stores or Lazada sales — you’ll save thousands per year.

School Years (3–12 years)

When Twinkle started preschool, I was shocked by how fast expenses piled up: tuition, uniforms, projects, baon, and even “class fund.” The average tuition for private schools in Metro Manila can range from ₱40,000–₱150,000 a year.

If you have two or more kids, it’s wise to set aside at least ₱10,000 per month for education alone — not counting extra-curricular activities or gadgets for online learning.

Teenage to College Years (13–21 years)

College tuition can easily reach ₱70,000–₱200,000 per semester depending on the school. Add in allowance, transportation, and dorm fees, and you’ll need to prepare early.

💡 Mommy Tip: Open a separate savings account for your child’s education. Even ₱500–₱1,000 per payday adds up.

The Total Estimate

From birth to college graduation, the cost of raising a child in the Philippines can range from ₱3 million to ₱6 million — and that’s being modest!

But here’s the good news: the value of love, guidance, and time we give our kids? Priceless. ❤️

So don’t stress too much, mommy. Every peso you spend is an investment in your child’s happiness and future.
