Birthday Gift for Myself: MyPhone A919

With Kris Kringles and Christmas shopping left and right, the marketing for the new iPhone 5 is flooding the market and the social media mainstream. Everyone wants to buy the new best thing.

So I didn’t.

I didn’t have the budget for it anyway, hee. peanutbutter♥ said I’m a hater. I’d like to pretend that I’m a patriot and that my primary reason in purchasing this is actually the love of all things local. But no, I’m just being practical and I’d rather spend those extra peso {If there are extra pesos} towards the upgrading of my camera.

But since I am in dire need of a new updated mobile phone, I had to give in and buy a new one. I originally planned to buy the MyPhone A898 Duo…but because there’s only a ₱500 difference with their latest, that’s what I bought — the MyPhone A919 Duo.

I bought this phone for ₱ 7,999. That’s an awfully cheap price for a device that’s sleek, fast and boasts a bigger screen.

MyPhone A898 VS Cherry Mobile Flare : Which mobile phone should I buy?

In as much as I would like to retain the use of my current phone and no matter how much is its sentimental value, I have to accept the fact that it is not catering to my Social Media needs…. specially now that it is half-broken.

I am now considering my options in buying a new phone. I don’t like to splurge on it even though I deem it necessary. Call me stingy. Call me a Scrooge. Call me what you like. Like I said, I just want something that would cater to my social media needs, I don’t care what the brand is — as long as it is affordable.

I’m eyeing the two new local phones in the market.

First is the Pinoy Android phone from MyPhone, the A898 Duo. It is the first ever Android smartphone from MyPhone that comes with 3G connectivity.

and second is the Cherry Mobile Flare, the first ever dual-core Android ICS smartphone in the market with an unbelievably low price of ₱3,999 .

The Specs of these two are almost the same. They both have 512MB RAM, 4GB of internal storage, 5MP auto-focus camera with LED flash, Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), microSD up to 32GB, 720p HD Video Recording, Bluetooth / USB / WiFi, and GSM 900/1800/1900 (Tri-band) .

The only difference is that Cherry Mobile Flare has a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and a price of ₱3,999? I don’t think you could get a better bargain.

Did I tell you I have a new phone? Well, I do and I wanted this since it went out in the market. I don’t know why.

I’m not a techie person and peanutbutter♥ can tell you that. This replaced a blue Z610i which I’ve had for about four years now and is threatening to quit its job of becoming my personal assistant. So before my old phone retires, peanutbutter♥ made sure I get a better, cuter replacement which can do most of the things I love.

One of them is watching movies and tv series. A phone with bigger screen certainly did the trick. Now I can take my series and movies wherever I go. What’s really nice is that peanutbutter♥ also bought a blue tooth earphone for me and this little speaker. That was really touching. I wouldn’t have known they existed if not for him..LOL!

Ykaie loved this feature as well. She can now take Spongebob Squarepants anywhere!

Now all we need is a bigger mem card…
