In Feb 3, 2007, a 30-story-deep sinkhole appeared in Guatemala City. The hole was 330-foot-deep (100-meter-deep). It was reported that this hole swallowed a dozen homes and took the lives of three people. They found out that rainstorms and ruptured sewers may have caused this huge sinkholes as underground rocks can be dissolved by water.
Last Sunday another giant sinkhole appeared in Guatemala similar to what appeared in 2007. It swallowed a three storey building this time. Most likely it was spurred by tropical storm Agatha. The sinkhole appears to be 60 feet (18 meters) wide and about 30 stories deep.
This is really scary…. what if this happens here?
