Okay, so I just found out that bed bugs have been living in my oh-so-soft and comfortable chair at the shop. It’s what have been causing the red and super itchy blisters at the back of my legs for more than a month now. Yup, I didn’t see that coming.
I know. It’s a total case of the yuckies and I want to throw away that chair.
Bed Bugs {or Surot} are small oval blood-sucking insects that looks like a very small cockroach or tick. Adult bed bugs are reddish brown in color, appearing more reddish after feeding on a blood meal. Nymphs or baby bed bugs are clear in color and appear bright red after feeding.
It is clear that eventhough they are called bed bugs, they don’t only reside under the beds but in other furniture as well or in any area of the house for that matter including curtains, carpets, upholstered and other furnitures. As long as there are cracks, crevices and source of food {read: human or animal blood}, they can thrive.
I know bed bugs are very hard to get rid of. You have to use pesticides and other chemicals such as Malathion to get rid of it. You will have to search for their “nest” and spray them with the chemicals, other people say they use gasoline but I don’t really know if that’s effective . It is not safe to use that in household furnitures because you might end up burning your house.
Sometimes, you can’t get rid of bed bugs that easily. You might have to give up your favorite furniture and throw it away if it is highly infested.
Today, I used Baygon to kill the bedbugs under my chair. Yes, they died.
They left traces of eggs and shed skins under the chair which I brushed with a stiff brush.
Today is the first time that I saw nymphs and I know that the red color in their bellies are my blood.
I have this icky feeling and I don’t think I’d want to use that chair again….

hi what type of baygon spray did you use to spray on them critters? thanks! 🙂
Hi ikes, I just used the regular Baygon that we have in the house. Not the water-based one.
oh cool 🙂 i just got the baygon “protector” type a while ago.im asking cuz a few days ago i accidentally sat on a couch that was very much infested with bed bugs.. so when i got home i immediately isolated my clothing and backpack in a plastic box container.just sprayed and sealed it shut a few minutes ago and will try to check by tomorrow. im hoping that’d be enough to kill any stowaways 🙂
thanks!
i have same problem in my room….thanks for the info… now i can trust baygon spray…
