I cannot complain, so far the lighting kit that peanutbutter♥ gave me has been giving me nothing but great photos during the time of the day when there’s not much natural light.
Just look at this Sisig and Calamansi Curd photos. These were photographed late afternoon. I still managed to produce good results.
I use an illustration board as a reflector and I sometimes open up a window for additional light.
But I feel that I need to buy a brighter light, something along 60w-80w. Since the lighting kit include only a 26w bulb, I have no choice but to work with it. I’m grateful that the three levers of the stand help me a lot in adjusting on where I want my light pointed at.
I will buy a brighter light soon and I may buy it at the mall hardware store because it’s cheaper there than the photo supply shops.

I was thinking if I would buy a lighting kit but then most of the time, I take photos of restaurant food anyway so I thought it better to save up for a lens or external flash instead. But your setup still has great effects. I wouldn’t have thought those were taken in the afternoon. 🙂
