Whether you’re moving into a new home or just bored with your current interior design, remodeling can be a fun, rewarding way to breathe new life into your residence. But where should you begin? Here are eight ideas.
1: Fix Your Fixtures
Stainless steel may be the most common material for faucets and shower heads, but that doesn’t mean it’s the only one available. Think brass or zinc for a new look.
2: Brighten Up
Tired of boring old lamps? Add pendant lights to your ceiling for a fresh, modern way to illuminate your home. You can make them even more radiant by installing compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs), which are brighter and more energy efficient than their incandescent counterparts.
3: Paint Your Walls
It may not seem like much, but a simple paint job can completely transform the atmosphere of a room. Freshen up your whites; experiment with neutrals and pastels; try bold, exciting colors for a big change.
4: Add Carpet
A lush carpet will add luxury to every step you take in your home. On the flip side, if you already have carpet, consider tearing it up and buffing those gorgeous hardwood floors you didn’t even know you had.
5: Redo Your Tile
Add a little style to your bathroom by replacing the old tile with something new. Mosaic designs have personality and flair; limestone is unique and easily cleaned; porcelain offers a beautiful modern look.
6: Reupholster Your Furniture
Say goodbye to that ugly floral couch. By having it reupholstered, you can make it look and feel brand-new without actually sacrificing the money to replace it. You’ll enjoy all the benefits of change without the pressure on your pocketbook.
7: Replace Your Doors
When’s the last time you thought about your doors? Add sophisticated frames or bring out the paint again to give your doors a makeover that will brighten the entire room.
8: Go Outside
Renovations don’t have to be limited to the interior of your home. Show off your style to the neighbors with a new deck, a fresh garden or an elegant walkaway leading up to your property.
These are just a few ways to jazz up your home. Some can be accomplished with your own two hands; others may require professional teams like the ones at Knockout Renovation. Regardless of the effort involved, it’s never a bad idea to shake things up and try something new!

I totally agree with the repainting of walls. I read at some home making site that you should repaint every 4 years at least to keep the look and feel of the room fresh. I did just that! It’s been 4 years since we last painted our room a bit grayish, now it’s a nice shade of green/jade. 🙂

We’re still renting so the only changes we made are on the fixtures. We also added a carpet in our living room so it would feel homey. 🙂

I’m sure it looks really good.
