Working From Home as a Mom is a Different Kind of Chaos

Let’s be honest. Working from home sounds peaceful in theory… until you’re actually doing it as a mom. 😅
Because one minute you’re replying to emails, the next minute someone’s asking:
👉 “Ma, nasaan charger ko?”
👉 “Anong ulam?”
👉 “May assignment ako.”
And somehow your brain is trying to manage work, chores, schedules, food, kids, deadlines…all at the same time. Honestly, work-from-home mom life is its own category of multitasking.
A Good Work Setup Really Helps
When I first started working from home, akala ko enough na yung laptop and internet. But over time, I realized that small things actually make a HUGE difference in your daily routine.
Not necessarily expensive things ha.Sometimes it’s the simple upgrades that make work feel less stressful and more manageable. Especially when you spend hours working at home almost every day.

A Reliable Internet Connection is Non-Negotiable
I feel like every Filipino work-from-home setup starts with one major requirement: stable internet. Because honestly, nothing raises stress levels faster than:
- lag during meetings
- slow uploads
- disconnected calls
- pages not loading
And when you’re working while managing a household, extra stress is the LAST thing you need. A good internet connection really changes everything.
A Comfortable Chair is Worth It
This is one of those things you don’t appreciate… until your back starts hurting. 😅
At first, many of us work anywhere:
- dining chair
- bed
- couch
- kung saan may space
But if you’re working daily, a comfortable chair honestly becomes one of the best investments. Because work-from-home moms already carry enough physical exhaustion from everyday life. Your body feels it too.
Noise-Cancelling Earphones Save My Sanity Sometimes 😅
Realistically, moms rarely get complete silence. There’s always:
- TV sounds
- kids talking
- someone asking questions
- random household noise
So honestly, good earphones or headphones help A LOT. Not just for meetings — but also for focus. Sometimes wearing earphones alone already tricks my brain into “okay, work mode muna.” 😂
Having a Small Work Corner Helps Mentally
You don’t need a Pinterest-perfect office setup. Honestly, even a small corner works.
But having a dedicated work area somehow helps your brain separate:
👉 work mode
👉 home mode
And as moms, that mental separation is important because work and household responsibilities easily blend together at home.
Planners, Notes, and Lists Save My Brain Daily
Mom brain is real. There are just TOO MANY things to remember daily:
- deadlines
- groceries
- school reminders
- bills
- errands
- meetings
So honestly? Writing things down helps so much.
Whether it’s:
- a planner
- sticky notes
- phone reminders
- random lists
Anything that helps reduce mental overload is already worth it.

Snacks and Coffee are Honestly Part of the Setup Too
Not even joking.
There’s something about having:
- coffee nearby
- quick snacks
- water within reach
…that makes work feel more manageable. Especially during long work days when moms barely even get time to sit down properly.
I think one thing people don’t realize about work-from-home moms is that we’re rarely doing “just work.”
We’re usually working while:
- checking on kids
- thinking about meals
- monitoring chores
- answering questions
- mentally planning the rest of the day
So honestly, work-from-home essentials aren’t just about productivity. They’re also about making life feel a little lighter and less overwhelming.
And sometimes, even small things help:
- a better chair
- a quiet corner
- stable internet
- a good planner
- comfortable headphones
Little comforts matter too.
Working from home as a mom will probably never feel completely quiet or perfectly organized. But having the right essentials can make daily life feel:
- smoother
- more comfortable
- less stressful
And honestly? Anything that helps moms survive busy days a little better already feels essential. 💖
